Hypnotherapy is a way of finding solutions to problems which helps you relax, think clearly and utilize your inner resources.
Using a range of simple hypnotic and self-help techniques, as well as deeper forms of relaxation, hypnotherapy can increase confidence and well-being and reduce anxiety and stress.
It also helps with a range of other everyday problems, including phobias, panic, insomnia and unwanted habits. It can give you the strength to deal with life-experiences such as personal loss or getting over a relationship.
At Aspire we also offer specialised programmes for weight and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) drawing on techniques used by leading experts in these fields.
We work with clients of all ages, including teenagers and older children, particularly those seeking help for confidence and self-esteem. In addition to being hypnotherapists, Julian is a qualified teacher and Michaela works in the field of careers guidance as a senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University.
An Integrated Approach
Hypnotherapy takes account of all the ways we experience the world. It recognises that we respond to situations and events in a variety of ways - through our feelings, our emotions, our thoughts and our senses.
Very importantly it acknowledges the vital part played by the unconscious mind in all our experiences.
As well as being the repository of our deepest held ideas and beliefs, the unconscious mind is also the source of all those day-to-day behaviours and action which we carry out without thinking.
These are the things we talk about doing ‘unconsciously’, like driving a car without having to think about every gear change, or using a computer keyboard without needing to remind ourselves of the position of every key.
Hypnotherapy works on the assumption that it is only by influencing the unconscious mind that we can bring about in-depth and long-lasting change.
Treatments and Techniques
The treatments we offer and the techniques we use take a variety of forms spanning from careful questioning for bringing perspective to a problem and focusing you on goals, to the use of deep relaxation to draw upon the resources of the unconscious mind.
We use a range of simple visual, auditory and physical exercises to help you to tap into your own inner resources, to use your mind more flexibly and to deal more effectively with the stresses and demands of the modern world.
In tailoring the treatments we offer to the needs of the client we also draw upon techniques from other closely related fields such as NLP and Life Coaching.
Where the problem is related to past experience, hypnosis can be used to regress a person to earlier events which may be playing a part in their present problem. Often this form of regression is not necessary, but it can be helpful with particular kinds of problems.
Self-hypnosis
Teaching clients the benefits of self-hypnosis can also be an important part of the treatment. Apart from seeking to resolve a problem it is our aim that clients should be able to take away a range of self-help techniques with them at the end of therapy which they can continue to use in their daily lives.
Overall we believe in an integrated approach and for those experiencing therapy the transition between techniques used will seem smooth and natural.
